Meretseger is a deity from ancient Egyptian mythology. She is often depicted as a snake or serpent with the head of a woman or a snake with a crowned human head, though she is also occasionally portrayed as a cobra-headed woman. Meretseger's name means "she who loves silence."

Meretseger was primarily associated with the sacred site of the Valley of the Kings in ancient Egypt, particularly the mountain known as the "Peak of the West." She was believed to be a benevolent deity who watched over the tombs and punished those who desecrated or disturbed them. Meretseger was known for her role as a protector and guardian, ensuring the sanctity and respect of burial sites.
